The Beginning
Formed in March 1946 from the merger of Anstey Methodists and St Mary's, the newly formed club took the name Anstey Meths and Mary's — nomads by nature from the very first day, playing wherever they could find a pitch in the village.
A Name is Born
In January 1947 the club was officially renamed Anstey Nomads FC — a name that captured their roots and spirit. They joined the Leicestershire Senior League Division One, beginning an eight-decade journey through the football pyramid.
First League Title
The Nomads claimed their first Leicestershire Senior League Division One championship in 1951–52, then retained it in 1953–54. Back-to-back titles in 1981–82 and 1982–83 further cemented the club's reputation as one of Leicestershire's finest.
East Midlands Counties League
Winning the Leicestershire Senior League in 2008–09 earned Anstey Nomads promotion to the East Midlands Counties League — the club's first step into regional non-league football. The Battle of Britain Cup followed in 2008–09 and again in 2011–12.
UCL Champions
After transferring to the United Counties League in 2018, the Nomads delivered their defining season in 2022–23 — winning the UCL Premier Division North with a record 93 points. An FA Cup run to the 4th qualifying round against Chesterfield and an FA Trophy 3rd round run made it a campaign to remember. Promoted to the Northern Premier League Division One Midlands, Step 4.
Step 3
Back-to-back promotions culminated in Anstey Nomads reaching the Northern Premier League Premier Division — Step 3 of the National League System. The highest tier in the club's 80-year history, and the springboard for whatever comes next.
Promotion Successes
Recent seasons have seen the Nomads rise through the National League System. With back-to-back promotions, the club has cemented its place as a powerhouse of Leicestershire football, proving that ambition knows no bounds.
